Meet the Laurel Springs School K-8 Counseling Team Counselors provide guidance, resources, and advice to help ensure students’ educational, emotional, social, and physical needs are met. Laurel Springs School Counselors Rock!įrom the day they enroll through the day they graduate, full-time Laurel Springs students collaborate with a certified counselor to implement an individual plan setting each and every student on their own journey to success. School counselors still provide guidance and resources for college and career preparedness, while also supporting student's academic and mental health. In recent years, the role of school counselors transitioned to a more multifaceted role, supporting students holistically. Their job function was typically limited in capacity, using standardized tests, student data, and teacher and student interviews to help inform and influence students’ expectations for life after high school graduation. Guidance counselors historically consulted students on their path from school to college or career. The role of school counselors and the role of the guidance counselors are different.
